Lady Eagle tennis defeats NHC foe DeKalb

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s tennis team downed DeKalb, 4-1.

“I was very pleased with the girls tonight,” Columbia City Head Coach Kathleen Myers said. “They stayed focused on the courts and took care of business.”

The Lady Eagles got wins in both doubles matches, and the No. 1 and 2 singles competitions.
Breanna Hicks and Sydney Ford won in close 6-3, 6-4 sets in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 doubles, Blake Farber and Macie Hinen won 6-2, 6-3.

Celine Rongos defeated DeKalb’s No. 1 Ashley Likens 6-0, 6-0. In No. 2 singles, Adrianna Brown won in a match with extra points, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

Although Alaina Beckner had Columbia City’s only loss, she didn’t go down without a fight, in a match that went to three games. After winning the first 6-1, she lost 6-4 and 6-3 in the final to games.

The Lady Eagles are now 7-6 and are back in action Tuesday, hosting East Noble.
