Lady Eagle tennis downs Central Noble

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s tennis team hosted and defeated Central Noble Monday in the last match, and final home play of the season.

The Lady Eagles won by a 4-1 score.

“The win tonight was a great way to finish the regular season,” Columbia City Head Coach Katie Myers said. “It was also a nice farewell for our two seniors, as they both picked up wins.”

Blake Farber and Lauren Taylor are the team’s seniors this season.
Farber, along with No. 2 doubles partner Macie Hinen, won 6-1, 6-2.

Taylor picked up a win with doubles partner Cassie Bosselman in the junior varsity match.

All three varsity singles matches took wins for the Lady Eagles.
Celine Rongos won 6-0, 6-0 over her Central Noble opponent in No. 1 singles.

In No. 2 singles, Adrianna Brown took a 6-3, 6-1 win over her Lady Cougar opponent. Alaina Becnker won 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles match.

The lone loss for Columbia City was in the No. 1 doubles match. Sydney Ford and Breanna Hicks lost in a three-game match.

The Columbia City pair won the first game 7-5, but lost the next two 6-2, 6-0.

Also winning in junior varsity matches were: Kennedy Slavicek, June Ramos, Lauren Rivas, Rachel Flauding and Bayley Smith.

The Lady Eagles begin sectional play Thursday at Warsaw, facing Whitko in the first round.
