CHURUBUSCO — Coming off of a weekend tournament victory, Churubusco’s volleyball team was on a hot streak, and the Lady Eagles kept it rolling with a three-set victory against Angola Tuesday.

’Busco swept the Lady Hornets by a final of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-16.

With the victory, Churubusco is 13-11 for the season and 5-2 in the Northeast Corner Conference.

“It was a good win for us, coming off of the tournament victory,” said Churubusco Head Volleyball Coach Trinda Goings. “Hopefully we can keep building off of that momentum.”

’Busco won the tournament at Fort Wayne South Side Saturday. The Lady Eagles defeated Norwell in the championship match after trailing 10-7 in the third set and losing to Norwell earlier in the day.

With Angola coming to ’Busco’s home gym, Goings said her team had no chance to rest with a quality opponent in town.

“Angola has had a season where they have beaten some pretty big teams, but they have also struggled at times,” Goings said. “We knew if they brought their ‘A’ game it would be a battle.”
