FORT WAYNE — Churubusco Head Track Coach Zack Dock described Tuesday evening’s Northrop IHSAA Girl’s Track and Field Sectional as “a very good night.”

The Lady Eagles used strong performances in the field events to send three athletes in four events on to next Tuesday’s Northrop Regional competition.

The Lady Eagles placed ninth as a team with only two points separating them from seventh place.

Eagle junior Katie Monk qualified in both of the throwing events.

Monk tossed the discus 129 feet, 4.25 inches to take second, while throwing over the state standard and qualifying for the regional.

Monk also qualified in the shot put, where she heaved the shot 36 feet, 4 inches to take third in that event.
