CHURUBUSCO — The Lady Eagles girls basketball team provided Adams Central its first win of the season Tuesday, losing to the visiting Lady Jets, 44-34.
Two of Adams Central three leading scorers, Olivia Macklin and Jenae Blackburn, hit early jumpers to give the Lady Jets a 5-0 lead to start the game.
According to Churubusco Head Coach Jamie Perlich, the team’s lack of readiness was apparent from tip-off.
“We didn’t come out focused. We had a good practice last night and we didn’t carry that over. We started out flat,” Perlich said.
Adams Central got a steal on ‘Busco’s next possession and missed two scoring chances, unable to take advantage of the turnover.
It was a rare missed opportunity, as the Lady Eagles turned the ball over 21 times, leading to 10 Lady Jets points.
“We played decent in the first half, but we had a lot of unforced turnovers; bad passes, bad looks,” said Perlich.
