Lady Eagles suffer close losses

December 27, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — The 7-4 record may not show it, but Columbia City’s girls basketball team could easily be undefeated this season.

Three of the Lady Eagles’ losses have been by five points or less, and the fourth loss was in overtime by seven points.

Glass-half-empty critics may view the losses as a weakness of the team, not able to come out on top of close games, but statistics shine a different light on the team’s effort.

After two years of the girls’ squad finishing with back-to-back 8-15 records, this year has been nearly a 180-turn-around for Head Coach Amy Shearer and the Lady Eagles.

At this time last season, the Lady Eagles were 2-9.
