Lady Eagles win second in a row

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s girls basketball team picked up its second win in a row and first Northeast Hoosier Conference game of the season Saturday night.

The Lady Eagles hosted and defeated Bellmont’s Lady Squaws to get their fourth win of the season.Columbia City’s staunch defense held the Lady Squaws to one field goal in the first quarter en route to a 45-34 win.

Guards Macie Hinen and Aubrey Wright combined for seven steals and six assists. Emily Whiteleather and Hinen led the boards with seven rebounds apiece.

Columbia City is back in action Saturday, hosting Homestead on a fund-raising night. The Lady Eagles are supporting Down Syndrome by taking donations, as well as a silent auction, for DSANI, the Down Syndrome Association of Northeast Indiana.
