Larry Blue, 83

Dr. Larry Lamar Blue, 83, of Lewisville, N.C., passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Dr. Blue was born July 31, 1930, in Fort Wayne, to Lawrence Elnathan Blue and Snelda Hoffman Blue.
Larry served his country in the U.S. Army after he finished high school. Following his military service, Larry received a bachelor’s degree in statistics from Manchester College in Indiana, a master’s degree in education from Ball State University and a doctorate in education from Indiana University where he also worked as a professor.
Dr. Blue was a former principal of Coesse High School in Columbia City and the Superintendent of Fairview School District in Skokie, Ill. before his retirement.
Preceding Dr. Blue in death along with his parents are his wife, Verda Mae Slain Blue.
Dr. Blue is survived by two sons, Lyle Andrew Blue (Catherine) of Sylva, N.C. and Larry Allen Blue (Lisa) of North Potomac, Md.; one daughter, Loree Blue-Powell (Frank) of Lewisville, N.C.; grandchildren, Brette Powell, Margret “Lizzie” Powell, Demi Blue, Anna Blue, Andy Blue and Ally Blue.
