Larry Heeter, 69

Larry A. Heeter, 69, of South Whitley, died at 2:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, where he was admitted the Friday before.
He was born Sept. 24, 1944, in Huntington, a son of Max and Geneva (Stetzel) Heeter. As a young boy his family moved to Wisconsin. As a teenager, he moved to North Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School.
He was employed at Farmer’s Grain Elevator, Whitley Manufacturing for nearly 15 years and Wabash Valley.
He was a former volunteer fireman for South Whitley–Cleveland Township Fire Department.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Bonita Yates of Sarasota, Fla. and Cheri R. Heeter of South Whitley; a granddaughter, Hope Yates; his mother, Geneva Heeter of Huntington; three sisters, Peggy Santee of Wisconsin, Kay Beyler of Sharpsville and Carol Lambert of Washington; and a brother, Ron Heeter of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Ryne Yates.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the South Whitley–Cleveland Township Fire Department.
Preferred memorials are to South Whitley–Cleveland Township Fire Department. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
