LAST SWIM: Burnworth closing as final design approved for new aquatics facility
COLUMBIA CITY — Sunday, Aug. 7 will mark the end of an era for Columbia City swimmers.
On that date Columbia City’s Burnworth Pool will close for the final time.
The 54-year-old facility has reached the end of its life span.
At Monday’s meeting, the Columbia City Park Board approved the design for a $3.45 million outdoor Family Aquatic Center to replace the existing pool.

BUY A BRICK CAMPAIGN STARTED
COLUMBIA CITY –The Columbia City Park Department has announced the beginning of a donation drive to help fund the building of the new Family Aquatic Facility. The park department will be selling personalized bricks that will be placed around the new facility.
The ultimate goal is to raise $3.45 million for this project. The park department hopes to sell approximately 500 bricks as a show of community support for the new facility. Other funding sources include area community foundations.
Those interested in donating toward this goal, and having their name or the name of a family or business permanently attached to the new facility, should contact the Columbia City Parks Dept. or go to http://www.fundraisingbrick.com/columbiacity. The bricks are being sold for $75.
