LAUNDRY DISPUTE: Col. City woman seriously injured in beating

COLUMBIA CITY — A 24-year-old Columbia City woman was severely injured after she was battered at Jellystone Campground in Pierceton over the weekend.

The victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition after a confrontation about laundry at the campgrounds.

According to a press release by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, the woman got in a dispute with Patrick Zimny, 54, of Glenwood, Ill., about use of a clothes dryer unit.

Police say the woman was injured in the front temple area of her skull, and eventually fell unconscious as she attempted to return to her campsite.
