Lavon Tucker, 91

COLUMBIA CITY — Lavon E. Tucker, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home.
Born June 21, 1920, in Huntington County, she was the daughter of Henry O. and Bertha (Reinkensmeir) Piepenbrink.
Raised in Huntington County, she attended Huntington High School.
On Aug. 1, 1947, she married Jerry J. Tucker in Waynedale.
She and her husband moved to Allen County where they lived until 1999 when they moved to Whitley County.
For the past several years, she resided at the Lutheran Home, Fort Wayne.
She was a homemaker and worked at Lutheran Hospital in the Dietary Dept. for 15 years.
Her memberships included Emmaus Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Columbia City.
An avid reader, she loved feeding the birds, volunteered at Emmaus School Library and her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She will be lovingly remembered by her, son, Melvin (Deborah) Tucker of Columbia City; daughter, JoEllen (Nathan) Flak of Osceola, Wisc.; brother, Calvin (Ruth) Piepenbrink of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry J. Tucker, brothers, Melvin and Wilbur Piepenbrink.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2465 W Keiser Road, Columbia City.
Pastor David Mommens will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s German Lutheran Cemetery, Columbia City.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Tucker to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
