Learning becomes hands on

January 28, 2014

Learning number sense is very important for young students. It is the base of each student’s mathematics career. Kindergarten students at Northern Heights Elementary School are using their number sense knowledge to complete early addition skills. Pictured are students rolling two dice and then using their individual rekenreks to count and add the dots together. Once students have understood this concept, number sentences will then be written to perform addition problems using pictures and numerals. Pictured are Zane Pequignot and Holly Oelschlager (front).
