Lee B. Shively, 87, of Churubusco, passed away at 4:33 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born May 17, 1924 in Angola, he was the son of Chalmer S. and Velma M. (Geiger) Shively.
He is a lifetime resident of Churubusco, graduating from Churubusco High School with the Class of 1942.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
On Sept. 17, 1944, he married Wiladene A. Garrison at Blue River Church of the Brethren.
He worked at Spears-Dehner, Fort Wayne, for 40 years as a heavy construction equipment operator and supervisor and as a union operator for five years, retiring in 1994.
He attended church at The Chapel, Fort Wayne and was a longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Wiladene A. Shively of Churubusco; one daughter, Connie M. (Rick) Krider of Churubusco; two sons, Douglas W. (Laura) Shively of Enfield, Conn. and Larry L. (Kathy) Shively of Churubusco; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bud L. Shively.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Hawks of The Chapel officiating.
Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Shively to The Chapel.
