Legion Post 98 remembers deceased veterans

COLUMBIA CITY — American Legion Post 98 in Columbia City hosted a ceremony Memorial Day to honor local men and women who have fallen serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Deceased members of American Legion Post 98 and VFW Post 5582 from the past year were memorialized.

They were Adrian R. Beers, Phil Glassley, Teddy R. Hare, Jack Kessie, Phillip L. Lundblad, Jack Moore, Chester Napier, Talbert W. Pittenger, Marquis Reid Jr., Robert Sandager, William H. Smith, Herman P. Stuersel, John Boggess, Earl McEntire, Tony Treece and Bobby Turner.

They were honored with a salute from a firing squad and the playing of “Taps” by Buglar John Ross.

American Legion Post 98 Chaplain Dean Ramsey gave the invocation and the address.

The guest speaker was American Legion Post 98 Commander John Richards.
