LIGHT THE WAY: Event to be held Monday

April 3, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — The Salvation Army of Whitley County will be presenting "Light the Way" to Child Abuse Prevention and Education on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. at The First Church of God, 1200 W. DePoy Dr., Columbia City.

"Our goal is to raise awareness of child abuse but also to illustrate that there can be help and hope for those going through this," Pat Mossburg, of the Salvation Army, said. "We also discuss the effects of domestic violence on children."

This year the event will host author April Maley, who will share her story from her book, "I Will not be Silent."

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Mossburg asks the community to continue to raise awareness and to let people know where to go for help.
