Local meth activity differs from state

COLUMBIA CITY — In Northeast Indiana, when it comes to meth labs, Whitley County is an island.

The county had a much lower number of methamphetamine labs busted by law enforcement in 2013 than its neighboring counties.

This fact might come as a surprise, since Whitley County’s courts are consistently tied up with methamphetamine-related cases and the Whitley County Drug Task Force focuses most of its energy on the drug.
