Col. City soccer falls

FORT WAYNE — Columbia City’s girls soccer team lost to a conference rival Saturday.

Homestead shut out the Lady Eagles by a final score of 9-0. The Lady Spartans had seven goals in the first half and two in the second. Columbia City will host DeKalb Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Bremen upends Whitko

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s girls soccer team lost a home game to Bremen Tuesday.

The Lady Lions beat the Lady Wildcats by a final of 5-1.

Bremen built a 3-0 first half lead. Whitko got a goal in the second half from senior Ellyana Blue, assisted by Heather Bryan. The Lady Lions chipped in two more in the second to bring the contest to its final margin.

Whitko is now 1-2-2 for the season. The Lady Wildcats will play at the Manchester Invite Saturday at 9 a.m.

Haire wins club championship

CHURUBUSCO — Tyler Haire won the Eel River Golf Course Club Championship, which was held Aug. 24 and 25. Haire shot a 137. Terry Geiger came in second with a score of 141 in the championship flight.

This was Haire’s fifth championship victory.

In the A Flight, Ken Penley won with a score of 167, and Dave Ratliff was second with a 172.

In the B Flight, John Hart shot 181 to win, and Rob Lund was second with a score of 184.

In the senior division round Sept. 3, Jim Clugston had the low gross with 90, and Ken Garrison had the low net.

In the super senior division, Pat Carter had the low gross at 82, and Carter and Phil Ross had the low net score, with each shooting 70.

Whitko linksters take second

SYRACUSE — Whitko’s girls golf team took second at South Shore Golf Club Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats shot 239 to edge out Manchester at 240. West Noble won the triangular meet with a score of 193. April Bishop and Claire Reiff both shot 58 to lead Whitko. West Noble’s Haley Teel had 45 to earn medalist honors.

Elizabeth Gensch had 61 for the Lady Wildcats. Kennedy Krull shot 62 and Samantha Shell rounded out Whitko scoring with a 66.

Whitko will be at Fort Wayne Canterbury Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Patriots shut out Wildcats

MONROEVILLE — Whitko’s boys soccer team lost to Heritage Wednesday.

The Patriots beat the Whitko Wildcats by a final score of 6-0.

Whitko is now 0-5 for the year. It was the first victory of the 2013 season for Heritage.

Heritage scored three goals in each half.

The Wildcats will next play Saturday at the Manchester Invite, which starts at 9 a.m.
