A local tribute on a national day of mourning

September 13, 2010

Patriotic local firefighters put on a display.

A prominent display of patriotism could be found Saturday at Paige’s Crossing as the Union Township Fire Department hosted a fundraiser. Several local and area departments attended the event. They lined the entrance drive with nearly a dozen fire trucks, lights flashing, as an aerial unit from Aboite Township proudly flew a large American flag over the entrance. It was one of many area and national tributes on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
