COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Redevelopment Commission made the decision to make an offer on the Eagles Lodge building in downtown Columbia City Aug. 20.
This week, the Eagles Lodge accepted the $165,000 offer, and the city is moving forward on the purchasing process, Columbia City Councilman Ben Romine told the council Tuesday.
Romine said Columbia City’s Redevelopment Commission (RDC) is working with a title company to complete the final steps to buy the building, located at the corner of Van Buren and Line Streets, 306 W. Van Buren.
The RDC came up with the $165,000 figure by averaging two appraisals, $180,000 and $150,000.
RDC President Carl Siler said the city doesn’t plan to own the property long-term.
