Louis Salgado, 87

Louis Salgado, 87, of Columbia City, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since September 2009.
He was born March 23, 1926, in Houston, Texas, a son of Emencao and Maria (Martinez) Salgado.
On April 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Trinidad Mendoza. They moved to Whitley County from San Antonio, Texas, and began working on the Ruby Campbell farm and in the mid 1960s to the Denzil Schrader farm and began work. Mrs. Salgado died April 16, 1992.
Louis enjoyed working and took pride in his work, was a very happy man with a big smile on his face.
Surviving relatives include a son and a daughter, Maria and Louis Jr.; two sisters and a half brother, Delfina Villareal, Aurora Sanchez and Frank Huerta, all of San Antonio, Texas.
The graveside service was held Wednesday noontime at the Catholic Cemetery. A reception will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the lounge of Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Condolences may be sent www.smithandsonsfuneralhome.com.
