Luella Myers, 83

Luella Louise Myers, 83, of Columbia City, died at 8:23 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since July 2011.
She was born May 2, 1930 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Wilbert M. and Louise F. (Heinig) Luderman.
Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County and she graduated from Columbia City High School in 1948.
On October 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Claude Vloris “Bud” Myers.
They made their home in Whitley and Kosciusko Counties. Mr. Myers died Dec. 3, 1988. In Oct. 1992, Luella moved to her home in Columbia City.
She was employed 35 years for United Telephone, working in Columbia City and Warsaw as an operator, retiring in 1986.
Surviving relatives include four step children, Claude V. (Deb) Myers Jr. of Pierceton, Mollie E. (Russell) Starkey of Albion, Tonya G. (Terry) Staker of Fort Wayne and John H. Myers of Columbia City; 10 step-grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy M. Miller of Columbia City.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter and a sister, Helen I. Rose.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Riley Children’s Hospital. Condolences may be sent to
