COLUMBIA CITY — Leadership Whitley County (LWC) recently received a state award for its creativity in combining youth and adults in community involvement.

“I didn’t feel right accepting this award on my own,” said Kelley Sheiss, program director for LWC. “This was really earned by those who had the vision to incorporate the youth into what we were doing.”

Given by the Indiana Leadership Association, LWC received the Innovation Award for 2013.

As a community outreach organization, LWC works to instruct adults in areas of communication, teamwork and civic duty.
