Lyle R. Bailey, 64, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Born on Feb. 16, 1947 in Huntington, he was the son of Walter R. and Mary Jane (Bailey) Bailey.
Lyle spent his childhood in Huntington, graduating from Huntington High School with the Class 1965 and then entered the U.S. Army, serving from 1966-1968.
He spent most of his adult lifetime in Huntington, moving to Big Lake in 1987 then moved to Columbia City and to his present home in 2010.
On March 27, 1987, he married Lynnette A. Kaylor in Huntington. He was a truck driver for Bostwick Braun in Ashley for 20 years. He attended St. Peterâ€™s Lutheran Church, Huntington.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Lynnette A. Bailey of Columbia City; son, Troy (Rachel) Bailey and daughter, Tricia (Paul) Lease, both of Peru; step-sons, Christopher R. Worsham of Warsaw; Chad (Rachela) and Ryan M. (Amy) Worsham both of Huntington; seven grandsons; four granddaughters and one brother, Roger L. (Marcia) Bailey of Huntington. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Sue Patton.
Visitation will be held today from 5 to 9 p.m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Lyleâ€™s Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, DeMoney-Grimes Certified Funeral Celebrant officiating.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Baileyâ€™s memory to American Cancer Society.
