Mahood receives four-year sentence for forgery

January 30, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — A Florida man received a four-year sentence for the Whitley County portion of a series of crimes in Northeast Indiana.

Scott D. Mahood, 34, of Coconut Creek, Fla., pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery earlier this month.

He was given a four-year sentence to the Whitley County Jail Monday by Judge James Heuer. He will serve three of those years, with one year of the sentence suspended.

“I find no obvious aggravators or mitigators,” Heuer said in his sentencing. “The advisory sentence (of four years) seems appropriate.”

Mahood was given 267 days of credit time at the jail, dating back to his initial arrest last year in Warsaw.

His sentence in Whitley County will be served concurrently with his sentence in Kosciusko County.
