Mahood trial date named

COLUMBIA CITY— A man from Florida accused of forgery in Whitley County will stand trial in January.

Scott D. Mahood, 34, of Coconut Creek, Fla., was arrested in September on two counts of forgery and two counts of theft.

His girlfriend, Rebecka Scoggins, is also standing trial for the same charges.

Monday, Mahood’s attorney, Brad Voelz, requested a jury trial Jan. 28-29, 2014.

Case reports indicate that Mahood and Scoggins allegedly cashed checks that did not belong to them at 1st Source Bank locations throughout Northeast Indiana.
