COLUMBIA CITY â€” A Columbia City man was injured in a one-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Ind. 205.
Police, EMS, and fire crews responded at approximately 1:28 p.m. to find James M. Lawdâ€™s truck wrapped around a tree.
According to the report by Whitley County Sheriffâ€™s Department Deputy Randy Dellinger, Lawd, 64, was driving his truck eastbound on Ind. 205 at an excessive speed and drove off the right side of the road.
Lawd over-corrected and slid through a yard before striking a tree on the driverâ€™s side door.
The Columbia Township Fire Department extricated Lawd after he was pinned for nearly a half hour.
Lawd was transported by EMS to Parkview Whitley Hospital for treatment.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Whitley County Sheriffâ€™s Department.
