Marie Bailey, 85

Marie E. “Betty” Lahrman Bailey, 85, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:07 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born Nov. 30, 1926, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Jewel C. and Ethel I. (Gilmore) Needy.
She graduated from Huntertown High School with class of 1944.
In 1976, she moved from Allen County to Whitley County.
Her first marriage was to Robert D. Lahrman on Nov. 10, 1950, in Fort Wayne.
On Aug. 28, 2004, she married Carl R. Bailey at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.
For 16 years, she worked as a bus driver for Fort Wayne Community Schools. She was a member of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, Columbia City; Eastern Star Past Matron; Daughters of the Nile and Shrine Hillbillies.
Survivors include her two sons, Arthur C. (Kathy) Lahrman of Fort Wayne and Robert D. (Laura) Lahrman, II of Milford; one daughter, Linda M. (Donald) Edgar of Enterprise, Ala.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Robert D. Lahrman, second husband, Carl R. Bailey, infant grandchild, Douglas Lahrman and great-grandchild, Alex Edgar.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Bailey to the American Heart Association.
