Marilyn A. Darr, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at Golden Years Nursing Home, Fort Wayne.
Born Jan. 21, 1919 in Whitley County, she was the daughter of Henry O. and Doris E. (Burnworth) Meier.
She was a lifetime resident of Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1937.
On Feb. 24, 1940, she married Eugene S. Darr, Sr. at Grace Lutheran Parish.
She retired from Victor Gasket, Churubusco in 1967. She was a member of Churubusco United Methodist Church and was the very first Girl Scout Leader in Churubusco.
Survivors include her son, Eugene S. â€śBudâ€ť (Vicki) Darr, Jr. of Columbia City; daughters, Marianne Darr Norman of Fort Wayne and Rebecca L. (Jay) Parker of Hernando, Fla.; brother, Phillip Meier of Woodstock, Ill. and sister, Mildred (Paul) Hadley of Sebring, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eugene S. Darr, Sr, one sister, Barbara Miller and three brothers, Donald, John and Lewis Meier.
Public graveside committal service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Thorn Cemetery, 625 W 350 S, Wolf Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to be given to Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice, 1315 Directorâ€™s Row, Ste. 20, Fort Wayne, IN 46806.
