Sounds of Summer
Peabody Public Library, in conjunction with the Whitley County Community Foundation, presents â€śSound of Summer,â€ť the annual summer concert series. All concerts will be held on the lawn behind the library, beginning at 6 p.m. The concerts will be held rain or shine.
Kenny Taylor will perform Saturday, Aug. 4. Kenny entertains with soft rock, sixties music and Elvis songs. Scratch & Sniff will entertain Saturday, Aug. 25. In keeping with past series, this is a local band led by Mark Roberts. They will be playing rock and roll.
5k race and walk
Witnessing Our Lordâ€™s Forgiveness will be having a 5k race and walk Saturday, Aug. 4 in Wolf Lake. The race will begin at 8 a.m. with registration between 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. Registration is currently taking place and will last until Tuesday, July 31. The cost is $15 per person and includes a T-shirt or $10 per person without a T-shirt. South Whitley High School graduates are invited to come back to school this summer. The class of 1963 is organizing, â€śThose Were the Days,â€ť and encourages classmates who have not responded to their invitation to do so right away. The 36th Triennial Alumni Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at Whitko High School in South Whitley. Since there is ample room in the Whitko gymnasium for alumni and their guests, organizers have extended the reservation deadline to Aug. 1.

Oak Grove United Methodist Church will host an ice cream social Saturday, Aug. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. Soft serve ice cream will be available in vanilla, chocolate, lemon and strawberry with toppings offered. Also on the menu will be sloppy joes, hot dogs, chips, pies, cakes and cookies. A freewill donation is encouraged and carry outs will be available for a price. Proceeds will to toward UMCOR for storm relief.

Ice cream social
Indiana Farm Bureau, district 2, will sponsor an ice cream social Sunday, July 29 at the Whitley County Fairgrounds from 2 to 4 p.m. Those who attend will experience home made ice cream made by the Steuben County Farm Bureau to honor the district 2 scholarship recipients.
The community is welcome to bring cookies or a dessert to share. Table service, drinks and ice cream toppings will be provided. The event will be held near the Ag Museum. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, but picnic tables will be available.
