County museum’s Titanic party April 14
The Whitley County Historical Museum will be commemorating the 100th-year anniversary of the sailing of the Titanic with an Edwardian-themed tea party. The tea party will be hosted Saturday at the Whitley County Historical Museum, 108 W. Jefferson St. in Columbia City at 1 p.m. All are invited to set sail with the museum on an imaginary adventure of what life was like during the time of the Titanic. Staff will be dressed in time period clothing and the tea party will be served in an Edwardian style. Cost is $7.50 per person. Reservations are required. Whitley County EXPOsed scheduled for April 14
The Whitley County EXPOsed-Chamber Business Expo will be held at Indian Springs Middle School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday. The Whitley County Chamber is hosting a job fair during the EXPO at Indian Springs Middle School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. There is no cost for businesses to set up a table and accept applications, conduct interviews or simply meet potential employees. Fish and Tenderloin fry to be held April 14
The Tri-Lakes Lions Club is holding a Fish and Tenderloin Fry as a fund raising activity April 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Prices will be $8.50 for adults, $4 for children six to 12 and free for children five and under. “We are asking that people bring canned food items to be donated to support a local food pantry in Columbia City,” said Lion Larry Weiss. This price includes an all-you-can-eat dinner, beverage and dessert. Carryout dinners are available. The supper will be held at the Tri-Lakes Lions Hall on Colony Avenue. Proceeds generated from this fund raising project will go toward the Lions District projects and other local lion’s projects.

Rainbow Preschool registration April 17
Rainbow Preschool, at the South Whitley United Methodist Church, will have registration on Tuesday, April 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the church narthex. Children must be 3 and a half years or older by August 1, 2012. Preschool meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Bring immunization records and a $30 non-refundable registration fee to the registration.

Lunch and learn session April 20
Mark your calendars for a leadership refresher April 20. As part of Excellence in Servant Leadership Week, Leadership Whitley County is hosting a lunch and learn session. The session is titled “Lead From Where You Are.” The featured speaker is Bob Aibel, a Human Resources practitioner and instructor, with over 25 years of experience.
Aibel has worked and consulted in various industries, including medical device, consumer products, restaurant and hospitality, insurance and service organizations. The one-hour session will include a box lunch from CC Deli, followed by a 45-minute interactive learning session with Aibel. Cost to attend is $10 and pre-registration is required. 4-H Museum benefit breakfast April 21
The Whitley County 4-H Ag Museum Benefit Breakfast will be held April 21 from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Whitley County Ag Museum building at the Columbia City 4-H fairgrounds. Donations are welcome. The menu is all-you-can eat, and it includes whole-hog sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes and drinks.

Spring Fling April 22
Spring Fling will take place April 22 at the 4-H Center Building from noon to 4 p.m. This is a fund raising event for the Whitley County Domestic Violence Task Force. Many vendors, such as Lia Sophia, Pampered Chef, Scentsy, Gold Canyon candles and many more will have cash and carry items for sale. In addition, the Columbia City Show Choir will have lunch for purchase. It is the place to pick up the gifts for Spring graduations, weddings and Mother’s Day. Raffle tickets will be sold as well for a bundled packaged of products donated by the vendors.

Drug Awareness presentation April 26
There will be a drug awareness presentation for parents and community members at the Peabody Library Auditorium April 26. The presentation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Columbia City Police Detective Chip Stephenson will present important information regarding drug use among youth. All are invited to learn about the various types of drugs teens are abusing and the warning signs to recognize if your child could be at risk.

American Red Cross Bloodmobile April 26
The American Red Cross Bloodmoblie will be at Columbia City United Methodist Chuch, lower level, 605 North Forest Parkway, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are always accepted. If you are at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental permission in writing, and weigh at least 110 pounds and have a good hemoglobin blood count, you may be accepted for donation. All those wishing to donate blood should bring their blood donation card or driver’s license. For questions, call 244-7671 or 229-0863.

Beef and noodle dinner April 28
The women of Grace Lutheran Church will host a Beef and Noodle dinner April 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Beef and noodles will be served, as well as mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, rolls, desserts and beverages. Carry-outs will be available. Everyone is invited. Profits will benefit local and worldwide outreach ministries.Previous recipients were: Grace Food Pantry, the Lighthouse, BABE, Kathleen Lutz — a missionary in Kenya and Lutheran World Relief.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser April 28
An all-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held at the Columbia City High School Cafeteria to benefit the CCHS Band program. The fundraiser will take place April 28 from to 7 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $5 for seniors, age 65 plus, $7 for adults 13-64, $4 for children five to 12 and children four and under eat free. Tickets at the door are $6 for seniors 65 plus, $8 for adults 13 to 64 and $5 for children five to 12. Pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase through band members or by calling Elizabeth Bailey at (260) 609-7519.

W5YI Amateur Radio Test April 28
The next Whitley County W5YI Amateur Radio Test will be held on April 28, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Community Room A & B of the Peabody Library, located at 1160 E. Ind. 205 in Columbia City.
