Saturday
• War veterans - 10 a.m.
The Korean War Veterans Association IN Chapter One will meet Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Eagles #248, 4940 Bluffton Rd. in Fort Wayne.
Lunch will be served after the meeting. Friends and spouses are always welcome and urged to come.

Tuesday
• Patriots meeting - 7 p.m.
An informative meeting is planned to help the community sort out health care options.
For those who might be feeling perplexed by all the changes being made to health insurance through “Obama-care,” also known as the Affordable Care Act, the meeting will help remove some of the apprehension about the impacts of these changes.
The Whitley County Patriots meeting will focus on this topic Tuesday.
Several healthcare professionals will be on hand to explain how this law will effect healthcare options and to answer questions.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at The Church of The Nazarene, 506 N. Main St., Columbia City. The public is welcome to attend.

Saturday, Jan. 18
• Book Club - 2 p.m.
Churubusco Public Library’s Young Adult Book Club will meet Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m.
This month the group will be discussing “The Cuckoo’s Calling.” The book is J.K. Rowling’s first crime novel written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. High school and college aged students are welcome.

• Story hour - 2 p.m.
Churubusco Public Library will offer a Story Hour for children on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. The animated film, “Ice Age,” will be shown.

Monday, Jan. 20
• Look Good...Feel Better
The Whitley County Giving Circle for Women’s Health announced that it will offer the Look Good ... Feel Better program in the community for women with cancer.
The next session is planned for Monday Jan. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with a registration deadline of Monday, Jan. 20.
There is no cost for the program, but advance reservations are required. Register by calling the American Cancer Society at 1-800-ACS-2345.
Look Good ... Feel Better is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to women cancer patients in active treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment.
Each participant will receive a free make-up kit.
The group program is open to all women cancer patients who are undergoing radiation or chemotherapy treatment.
A friend or caregiver may attend as well, but make-up kits will only be made available to women undergoing treatment.
The Whitley County Workshop will be conducted at the Whitley County Community Foundation, 400 N. Whitley St., Columbia City.

Thursday, Jan. 23
• Adult group - 10 a.m.
Churubusco Public Library’s Adult Discussion group will meet Thursday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
This month the group will be discussing the children’s novel, “Wonder,” by R.J. Palacio.

• Amateur radio - 9 a.m.
The next Whitley County W5YI Amateur Radio Test Session will be held Saturday Jan. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The group will meet in Community Room A & B of the Peabody Public Library, 1160 E. Ind. 205, Columbia City.

Tuesday, Feb. 18
• Library contest - 6 p.m.
The Peabody Public Library will host its annual Jeopardy! contest Tuesdays, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. There is no fee to be involved, and the library is searching for participants.
