â˘A Night In Italy - 5 p.m.
The Salvation Army will be holding an event, âA Night In Italyâ Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City.
Those who attend will eat an Italian dinner with family or friends while listening to live violin music.
Adult meals are $5, ages 4 to 10 meals are $3, and ages 3 and under meals are free.
â˘Parenting class - noon
This class combines basic parenting information and tips from Parkviewâs Safe Slumber program.
Topics include training in basic infant care, infant CPR, how to interact with your newborn, car seat safety and information on SIDS.
A free portable crib, crib sheet, swaddler and pacifiers will be given to those who qualify. Registration is required. For more information, call 248-9321.
â˘Heart bus - 8 a.m.
Complete heart screening will be provided in this mobile health clinic.

â˘History trip - 8:45 a.m.
The Genealogical Society of Whitley County has planned a special activity. On Saturday the Society has planned a day field trip.
At 8:45 a.m. participants will be picked up at the west end of the Town & Country parking lot, in front of Dunhamâs Sporting Goods Store, for a field trip to the Peabody Retirement Center in North Manchester.
The group will travel in a comfortable Peabody travel bus. When arriving at the Peabody Center, there will be a program in the morning on Simon Peabody and his family and their influence on the community, as well as their impact across the country.
Lunch will be served at noon. Seating is limited and will be accepted as received. Payment must accompany the reservation with names of those attending and a contact phone number. Checks should be made out to the GSWC. Walking will be apart of this activity. Reservations should be mailed to GSWC P.O. Box 224, Columbia City, IN 46725. Participation is open to the public.
â˘Breakfast - 6:29 p.m.
The Clevleland Township Fire Department will have an annual breakfast Saturday at 6:29 p.m. at the Cleveland Township Fire Department.

â˘Preparing for birth - 6 p.m.
A Lamaze and childbirth education class will be offered Monday at 6 p.m.
These classes are designed for expectant mothers and their partners. Classes are held at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. Classes are free. For more information, call 248-9321.
Churubusco Rotary Community and Scholarship Auction will be held at Churubusco High School cafeteria Tuesday.
The buffet starts at 5:30 p.m. and the action will start at 6:30 p.m.
Generous donations of services and merchandise from area businesses and individuals will be up for bid.

Join the experts and learn to turn vegetables into scrumptious treats.
Reservations are required. Space is limited. Call Parkview Whitley Hospital Community Relations at 248-9400 to reserve a place for this free event. Samples and recipe cards will be provided to those who attend.

â˘Healthy families - 6 p.m.
A class to help build healthy families will be held Thursday, March 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The cost for the class is $50. Participants will receive complimentary YMCA family membership for eight weeks, recipes, menu planners and tips on eating awareness.

â˘Teachers Assoc. - 2 p.m.
The Whitley County Retired Teachers Association will be meeting Thursday, March 20 at the Columbia City United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The program will be a presentation on wild flowers by Lucy Miner from Noble County, the election of officers and a discussion on constitutional changes.
â˘Book signing - 6:30 p.m.
A local author will be present at a book signing Thursday, March 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the South Whitley Community Public Library.

â˘Choir open house - 5 p.m.
Parents who have children interested in singing are invited to a âtry us outâ event to experience the Whitley Community Childrenâs Choir.
Children will have the opportunity to sing with the choir at a rehearsal Thursday, March 20 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Northern Heights Elementary School. If parents are interested, they should register their child by calling 481-0481 or emailing email@example.com.
