Fort Wayne’s Home/Garden Show
is HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND
FORT WAYNE – The 39th annual Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show, the largest consumer event in Indiana’s Tri-State area, is the perfect place to find the latest home and garden ideas and products to make your home springtime ready.
This year’s show takes place Thursday, March 1 through Sunday, March 4 at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum, 4000 Parnell Avenue. Show hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
For nearly 40 years, over 41,000 visitors – including gardeners, decorators and do-it- yourselfers – have discovered unique ways to reinvent their humble abode through hundreds of experts all under one roof.

Whitley snowbirds
will roost awhile
in Sebring March 6
SEBRING, Fla. – The Columbia City High School Alumni Association will host its annual Snowbird Luncheon for all citizens of Whitley County on Tuesday, March 6.
The Florida luncheon and get-together will start at 11:30 a.m. at Homer’s Original Smorgasbord, 1000 Sebring Square, located on the southeast corner of U.S. 27 and Sebring Parkway.
This is billed as “a casual get-together for you to enjoy with family, friends, classmates and alumni of Whitley County, Indiana.”
There is no reservation required for this event. Luncheon amount is $10.97 per person, plus tax, at the door.

Life Line Screening
available March 8
COLUMBIA CITY – Whit-ley County area residents can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture.
Columbia City Church of the Nazarene, 506 N. Main St., will host Life Line Screening on March 8.
Four key points every person needs to know:
•Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a leading cause of permanent disability.
•80 percent of stroke victims had no apparent warning signs prior to their stroke.
•Preventive ultrasound screenings can help persons avoid a stroke.
•Screenings are fast, non-invasive, painless, affordable and convenient.
Screenings identify potential cardiovascular conditions such as blocked arteries and irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease. A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk is also offered and is appropriate for both men and women.

Turtle Days Fish Fry
set for March 9
CHURUBUSCO – A Turtle Days Fish Fry fund raiser will be held March 9 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post 157.
All you can eat is $8, dinner is $7 and sandwiches are $5. Carry-out is available. \All proceeds will benefit the Turtle Days Festival.

Cornerstone Christian School
to host fish & TENDERLOIN fry
ALBION – Cornerstone Christian School, located at 4304 S. Oak St. in Albion, will hold a Tenderloin and Fish Fry Saturday, March 10 from 3:30-7:30 p.m.
For eat in or carry-out, adults: $8.50 pre-sale, $9 at the door. Ages six to 12: $5. Ages three to five: $3. Children under three are free.

COLUMBIA CITY – Kindergarten Round-up dates have been established in March for Whitley County Consolidated Schools..
Parents are instructed by school officials to call each elementary school office to set up an appointment time for the appropriate date.

‘TEDDY ROOSEVELT TO KEYNOTE HISTORICAL SOCIETY ANNUAL DINNER
COLUMBIA CITY — En-thralling stories and characteristics of Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States, will come alive through Gib Young’s professional and historical interpretation March 19.
The event is part of the Whitley County Historical Society’s annual meeting and will take place at The Brownstone in South Whitley at 6 p.m.
The event will precede the election of proposed and current members for board of director membership. Awards honoring extraordinary members of the Whitley County Historical Society will also be presented.
The general public is invited to attend and reservations are $18 per person. The Brownstone is located at 105 S. State St. in South Whitley.

CHURUBUSCO ROTARY CLUB AUCTION
MARCH 20 TO FUND STUDENTS, PROJECTS
CHURUBUSCO — A Churubusco Rotary Auction is scheduled for March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Churubusco High School Cafeteria.
Thanks to the generosity of area people and businesses, the Churubusco Rotary is able to award several scholarships to high school seniors and finance projects to help the local community and school.
Rotarians welcome the public to attend this banquet and to bid on many donated items. Last year, due to the generosity of bidders, the auction raised $20,000.
Some of the items already donated for the auction include flower baskets, an antique tractor and trailer, an hour airplane flight, a truckload of driveway stone, two family passes for all sports for the 2012-13 school year, a decorative pottery, two tickets for any production of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, a reverse osmosis drinking water system, a battery charger, a framed autographed photo of the Churubusco boys and girls basketball team, Vera Bradley items, a 12-month membership from the Whitley County YMCA, a Nook Color E Reader from the Whitley County Community Foundation, admission tickets to the Children’s Zoo in Fort Wayne and much more.
