Martha L. Osbun, 83, a resident of rural Churubusco in Noble County and wife of Everett W. Osbun, passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011 at her home in Green Township.
She had been in declining health for some time, and had been seriously ill for the past week.
Mrs. Osbun was born in Green Township on April 2, 1928, a daughter of Earlin R. and Mary N. (McClain) Budd. She spent her formative years north of Churubusco in Noble County, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1946.
On Sept. 19, 1948, she was married in Green Township to Everett W. Osbun, and lived all of her adult life there.
She had been employed in the collections department at Fort Wayne National Bank, and later worked in the claims department at Mutual Security Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne.
She was a member of the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, and the â€śSmiling Sams.â€ť
In her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing, camping, and outdoor activities. She was known as an excellent cook, and also enjoyed wintering in both Texas and Florida during her retirement years.
The surviving relatives include her husband, Everett W. Osbun, to whom she was married for more than 63 years; her two children, Terrell W. (Cathy) Osbun of Columbia City and Marla (Phillip) Wall of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Evelyn (Ross) Clouse of Churubusco and Lavon Renkenberger of Kendallville; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Lucille W. Bricker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Paul D. White, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m., or at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
