MAYOR'S RIDE: Promoting motorcycle safety

June 1, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — Mayor Ryan Daniel invites the community to participate in the Mayor’s Ride Sunday.
Teresa Bodle, ABATE of Indiana region zero director, said the motorcyclists can sign in from 9 to 11 a.m. at the K-Mart South Plaza in Fort Wayne the day of the ride. Registration is $10 per person.
“May is motorcycle safety month,” said Bodle. “Even though it’s June, it’s a nice thing for people to come out and see.”
The motorcycle event will have a police escort beginning in Fort Wayne and continuing through Churubusco and into Columbia City’s downtown square.
The riders are expected to arrive downtown Columbia City around 12:15 p.m.
“There are going to be a lot of food vendors and restaurants open,” said Bodle. “We will also have a band, “Reckon,” and a motorcycle stunt show by rider Kyle Slaiger.”
For the kids, Bodle said there will be face painting, cotton candy and a Tiny Tots motorcycle skills course.
