FORT WAYNE — Athletes from 37 different Northeast Indiana High Schools converged at Wayne High School Thursday night for track regionals.

Whitley County had contenders in 11 different events, led by Whitko’s Alec Wilkinson, who was a regional champion in the pole vault.

Wilkinson vaulted three inches high than his closest opponent at 14 feet, 3 inches.

Columbia City’s Matt Rethlake took second in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches.

Austin McClure of Churubusco had a second-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 52 feet, 4 inches.

All three tracksters will compete in the Indiana State Track Finals at Indiana University in Bloomington next Saturday.
