Melvin Fouts Jr., 59

Melvin L. Fouts Jr., 59, of Columbia City, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born June 6, 1953, in Huntington, a son of Melvin Leon and Lena Jane (Waters) Fouts.
In 1964, his family moved to Pierceton, where he completed his education. In the 1980s he moved to Columbia City.
Melvin worked part time at the YMCA.
His church membership was with Columbia City United Methodist Church.
Surviving relatives include two brothers and two sisters, Gary W. Fouts, David J. (Sheila) Smith, both of Columbia City, Jane (David) Dotson of Pierceton and Bonnie (David) Krebs of Warsaw; nine nephews and nieces; and six great-nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation after 6 p.m. Thursday.
