Merit board hears update

June 26, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County’s Sheriff Merit Board received an update on personnel and investments at a meeting last week.

Chief Deputy Marcus Gatton, who ran the meeting in absence of Sheriff Mark Hodges, informed the board of the latest news regarding Deputy Chuck Vogely, former detective.

Gatton said Vogely accepted his discipline for a drunk-driving incident in April and was suspended.

He will return to duty July 22. Board members heard updates on interviews as well.

Members of the merit board will interview four candidates for two openings within the department.
