Mike “Carroll Mervin” Grant, 81

Mike “Carroll Mervin” Grant, 81, of Wilmington, N.C. passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mike was born Sept. 6, 1932, in Tunker to the late Fred and Lillie Grant. Upon graduating from Columbia City High School, he enlisted as a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger, where he served his country honorably for 26 years. Mike was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and was the recipient of several purple hearts and countless honors and medals. He retired to the Carolina Beach, N.C. area where he resided until his passing.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Pearl Grant; daughter, Debbie Anderson (Darrell) of South Whitley; son, Michael Grant (Susan) of Tooele, UT; three step-children, Johnny, Lou and Sharon; his sister, Shirley Montgomery of Jonesboro, Ariz.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and countless dear friends and neighbors around the world. Mike is preceded in death by his brothers Jack, Junior, Ben, and Baby and his sister Helen.
