Minnie Alice Farris, 92, of Fort Wayne, died at 6:34 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home where she was admitted last Friday.
She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Harveysburg, Ohio, a daughter of Adam B. and Maude (Haines) Campbell. Her formative years were spent in Harveysburg.
On April 9, 1942, she was united in marriage to Raymon D. Farris. During Raymonâ€™s enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps they lived in Kentucky, California, New Mexico, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Utah.
Following his discharge in 1945, they moved to Fort Wayne until 1974 when they moved to Florida. In April 1995, they returned to Fort Wayne. Mr. Farris died May 15, 1996.
Surviving relatives include two sons and a daughter, Freddy (Marlene) Farris of Leesburg Fla., Terry (Sheryl) Farris of Columbia City and Carol Ann Harper of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephanie Nicole Farris and Tobin Farris; four brothers; and two sisters.
The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Anthony Wayne Church of God, 6012 South Bend Dr., Fort Wayne, with visitation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
The burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
