MIZPAH SHRINE: Charity horse show benefiting children

June 18, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — More than 130 classes of show horses will be featured at the 60th Annual Mizpah Shrine Charity Horse Show this Saturday and Sunday.

The two-day event will be held at the Mizpah Show Grounds, north of Columbia City off Ind. 9, beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Saturday, the event will feature a Fun Show at 7 p.m., which will showcase a variety of tricks and skilled game-playing for horses and their riders.

For 60 years, the proceeds from the horse show have directly benefited the Shrine Orthopedic and Burn Hospitals for Children.

The medical care provided at these facilities is free of charge to children up to 18 years of age, regardless of the family’s ability to pay.

With such a large number of horses participating in this year’s show, the event is one of the largest in the Midwest.
