Myrna J. Ennis, age 72, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Since April, 2011, she resided at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington.
Born Sept. 27, 1939, in Laud, she was the daughter of Ralph E. and Luella M. (Miler) Esterline.
She was a graduate of Jefferson Center High School, class of 1957. A resident of Whitley County for more than 40 years, she worked at Fleet Service and Bowmar Instrument Corp. in Fort Wayne. She also worked for the Indiana Department of Transportation in Allen County for 26 years, retiring in 2006. Her memberships include Eagles Lodge, Union Busy Belles-Lakota Chapter and past 4-H member for eight years.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Cheryl Porter of South Whitley, Mona Porter of Churubusco and Dawn (Mark) Schneider of Fort Wayne; mother, Luella Esterline of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Marsha (Jerry) Washburn of Churubusco and Marilyn (Perry) Ely of Columbia City; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Esterline and a son, Kevin Porter. She will be dearly missed by all, including her cats Mitten, B.J., and Ms. Princess.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will follow at Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
Memorials may be given in memory of Myrna to the Whitley County Humane Society or Union Township Volunteer Fire Department.
