Nancy Buesching, 70
In loving memory of our amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt, and Gummi, we announce the passing of Nancy Buesching Tucker, a resident of rural Churubusco, in Tucson, Ariz. on April 13, 2012.Growing up on the family farm south of Churubusco with beloved siblings (and outlaws) Ken (Janne) Buesching, Arcola, Bonnie (Al) Gore, Warsaw, Marlene Augenstein, Fort Wayne and Don (Colleen)Buesching, Noblesville, a passion for gardening emerged with the only lingering question being which sibling threw her precious bride doll to the pigs.Much to the chagrin of parents, Fred and Olga Buesching, she was spirited from the farm by randy, Virginia hillbilly and Elvis look-alike (complete with guitar), Robert Tucker. They enjoyed nearly 50 years together with minimal bouts of flying Spam. She attended Concordia High School and received her nursing degree from the Lutheran School of Nursing.Complete with “flying nun hat,” she trained at Lutheran Hospital and helped establish the first kidney dialysis unit in Fort Wayne. While she worked in many departments, she fell in love with emergency medicine. Her career spanned more than 40 years with the majority spent at Riverview Hospital’s emergency room in Noblesville.Though only officially named “Mother of the Year” in Hamilton County in 1978, she was an amazing mother to daughters, Rene’ (Tucker) Leitheim, Hamilton and Rhonda (Tucker) Jones, Pierceton. After years of parenting girls, favorite status quickly transferred to sons-in-law Todd Jones from Churubusco, who received a herd of turtles as a dowry, and Joseph Leitheim from Margretsville, Nova Scotia, who received a honeymoon trip to Mexico for the whole family. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren, Zachary, Cassie, and Emily Jones, as well as Cherrish and Nathaniel Leitheim. She delighted in their escapades, from stashing unwanted Thanksgiving turkey in their pants, blowing up toilets, winning a soccer sectional and softball championships, cheering on the Lady Wildcats, displays of intense stubbornness like their mothers, the artistry of her eldest to the sweet melodies of her little movie star.No services will be held in respect of her wishes. To honor her love and dedication to family, friends, and the field of nursing, memorials can be sent to the Nancy Buesching Tucker Nursing Scholarship Fund in care of Whitley County Community Foundation, PO Box 527, Columbia City, IN 46725.
