NATIONALLY RANKED: Parkview Whitley Nurses earn national honor

February 10, 2012

COLUMBIA CITY — Parkview Whitley Hospital’s nursing staff has received a national accolade, according to a hospital press release.
The hospital announced Friday it had been chosen as the recipient of the American Nurses Association’s (ANA) National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) Award for Outstanding Nursing Quality for a Community Hospital in the year 2011. The award recognizes hospitals that improve patient outcomes and maintain high nurse job satisfaction, the hospital said, adding that the NDNQI is the nation’s most comprehensive database of nursing performance measures.
Parkview Whitley was one of only six hospitals recognized out of 1,800 nationwide that report performance measures to ANA’s NDNQI.
According to ANA, award winners “demonstrated superior results” on a broad range of nursing-sensitive performance indicators, including patient falls with injury, hospital-acquired infections and pressure ulcers.
