COLUMBIA CITY — Mayor Ryan Daniel recently announced a new citizen engagement component for Columbia City, making it easy for citizens to stay connected to information concerning the city.
“We are one of the few communities in the state to have something like this,” said Daniel.
“Right now the (computer application) is only for the iPhone and iPad, but the Droid may be an option in the future as we see how this pans out.”
According to a press release, the computer application, also known as an “app,” was recently designed by Austin Drummond, a Huntington University student.
It gives citizens an effective and easy way to access information about Columbia City.
“I am excited to provide a more-direct engagement tool for our citizens and visitors alike,” said Daniel in the press release.
The free My Columbia City application will also be available in the Apple App Store, according to the press release.
“iPhone and iPad users can easily find the nearest park, report a pothole or graffiti, check the local weather or connect with local officials,” said Terry Wherry, Communications Director in the press release.
“Users will also be able to connect to the city’s Facebook and Twitter pages,” Wherry continued.
“This is a great tool for our citizens and I am proud to say that Columbia City is one of only a few communities in Indiana that have an official app.”
According to the press release, city officials will be periodically updating the application and residents can link directly to it through the city’s webpage at www.columbiacity.net or Columbia City’s Facebook page.
