NEW GROCERY STORE: S. Whitley welcomes Midtown Market

December 11, 2012

SOUTH WHITLEY — South Whitley will soon have a grocery store within its city limits. Midtown Market, which has another operation in Orland, plans to open its doors Jan. 9. Owners Rick and Lisa Rogers, of Fort Wayne, have owned Midtown Market for two and a half years. The grocery store will reside in what was the former Heyerly’s location, 101 W. First St., South Whitley.

The Rogerses tried to make a move approximately a year ago, but at the time an agreement could not be reached. “Now some hurdles have cleared and we are ready to move forward,” said Rogers.

The opening of the store will bring anywhere from 25 to 30 jobs. Rogers said staffing will start in the next week. To inquire about the application process, visit the careers page online at www.whitleymidtownmarket.com.

One unique service the grocer will offer is a full service meat counter as well as a deli.
