CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco could soon be the new location for a health care company’s home office.
Whitley County Council discussed an incentive package to entice Inwelligent Healthcare Inc. to the area, and at last night’s Churubusco Town Council meeting, President Frank Kessler asked fellow members if there was an additional incentive the town could make.
“We are at the top of the list. We are in the running and I am pretty sure we are going to be the location this company chooses,” Kessler said. “However, I think if we were able to offer something, it would tip the scales further in our favor and show the county we are serious about attracting new business.”
According to Kessler, Inwelligent Healthcare Inc. is currently based out of Boston and would hire new employees locally, rather than relocate existing workers.
“Right now they are forecasting about 50 employees in the first three years,” Kessler said. “They could grow to need 90 in the future.”
Final negotiations on an existing building in downtown Churubusco are underway, although the council was not at liberty to disclose what specific location the owners were hoping to acquire.
