COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Police Department is one step closer to hiring a new police officer.
Columbia City Police Chief Tim Longenbaugh gave the update at Monday’s meeting of Columbia City’s Board of Works and Safety.
The board assisted the department in interviewing the final three candidates for the police officer position. The new officer will be the 18th member of the force and will fill the position of a departed officer.
Longenbaugh added that the police force would also like to add three reserve officers and is currently reviewing applications for those positions.
Park and Recreation Director Mark Green said tickets are still on sale for the Father/Daughter Dance Feb. 8. He also said baseball and softball registration will begin Feb. 1.
Columbia City’s Board of Works will next meet Tuesday, Feb. 12 at City Hall.
