COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated's Board of School Trustee’s will be replacing one board member with another tonight.

Former Board Member Chris Bechtold stepped down from his position after he was hired within the district. The announcement was made earlier this summer.

At WCCS’s last board meeting, Aug. 5, current trustees had the opportunity to interview two candidates interested in filling the position.

Leslee Derbeck and Dan Curless were asked questions by each board member, and tonight a final decision is expected to be made by vote and nomination.

Derbeck, who graduated from Columbia City High School in 1996, has three children who will go through the WCCS district.

Curless has 39.5 years of experience in the WCCS district as both a teacher and administrator. Recently retired, Curless said he wants to be on the board to give back to the district.
